In this beginner-friendly six-week session, students will work with the wildly talented John Masello, whose art blends ceramics, plastics, and fabrics in vivid bursts of color.
You’ll learn a variety of hand-building techniques to create abstract sculptural pieces, with the pottery wheel playing a supporting role. Skills covered include throwing off the hump, pinching, coil building, slab work, and extruding. Students will also explore different ways to plan and develop their projects using paper templates, sketches, and photographs.
