Build a collection of functional pottery designed to be used and enjoyed in everyday life. Students develop foundational hand-building skills including slab construction, pinch shaping, coil work, and bending or altering slabs to create purposeful forms. They will also learn how to create strong seams, refine edges and joins, and use techniques such as darting, carving, paddling, and surface texturing to add form and character.
Schedule: this workshop meets once a week for six consecutive weeks on the same day and time. each session is 2.5 hours, for a total of 15 hours of instruction. please book only if you can attend all six dates.
Skill level: first-time potters through beginners. no prior clay experience is required.
