Explore advanced surface decoration techniques in this six-week, intermediate-level course for wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics. Each week covers a different method, including slip trailing, sgraffito, inlay, water etching, and underglaze transfers. All necessary materials (slips, underglazes, and tools) are provided.

Designed for ceramic artists with prior wheel or hand-building experience, this course also integrates fundamental design principles such as color theory, composition, balance, and contrast to enhance your creative decisions.

Instructor Jess holds a BFA in Animation and has over a decade of experience as a professional illustrator in the game industry bringing a unique perspective to the class. Her current passion is ceramic surface design, and she looks forward to sharing her expertise with you.

Schedule:The workshop meets on the scheduled day and for the following five weeks at the same day and time. Each session is 2.5 hours, for a total of 15 hours of studio time. Book only if you can attend all dates in the series.
