Alternative Firing: Slip Cast Creature Creation

Throughout this six-week workshop, you’ll explore the full process of slip casting, altering forms, and raku firing.

• Week 1: Choose from a variety of animal and creature molds (first-come, first-served) and learn the fundamentals of slip casting
• Weeks 2–4: Add details and alter your forms to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces
• Weeks 5–6: Glaze and raku fire your creations, experimenting with atmospheric effects that produce everything from smooth, matte surfaces to crackly, metallic finishes

By the end of the session, you’ll have a collection of expressive ceramic creatures and the skills to continue exploring these techniques on your own.
