Alternative Firing: Slip Cast Creature Creation

Throughout this six-week workshop, you’ll learn the basics of slip casting, how to alter your slip-cast forms, and the raku firing process. During Week 1, you’ll choose from a variety of animal and creature molds (first-come, first-served) to experience slip casting. In Weeks 2–4, you’ll add and alter details to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Finally, in Weeks 5 and 6, you’ll glaze and raku fire your creations, experimenting with the atmospheric effects that produce everything from smooth, matte surfaces to crackly, metallic finishes.

Schedule: The workshop meets on the scheduled day and for the following five weeks at the same day and time. Each session is 2.5 hours, for a total of 15 hours of studio time. Book only if you can attend all dates in the series.
